Team up with the Hillsborough Arts Council and you can be part of a passionate group of neighbors, friends, artists, and creators who bring to life our diverse arts programs year-round. We're actively recruiting volunteers for Last Fridays & the Art Walk (every month March - November) the Solstice Lantern Walk (December), ArtCycle, and more. When you donate your time as a volunteer, you make magic happen!

We are a 35+ year nonprofit organization. We could not fulfill our mission without the support of dedicated community volunteers. We'll filter your information to the appropriate committee and/or program chair. You will also find a list of some or our other volunteer needs with direct links or alternate instructions for applying.

Do you love spending time surrounded by beautiful, locally made artwork? You can be considered for volunteer opportunities at the Hillsborough Arts Council's Gallery & Gift Shop! In addition to greeting customers, volunteers help merchandise and sell a variety of artwork from local artists. Volunteers serve as ambassadors for our creative community by answering questions about the Hillsborough Arts Council and other local programs and places of interest. We are looking for trainable, team-oriented volunteers who are comfortable providing customer service, processing sales with a user-friendly point of sale system, interacting with artists, accessing various technologies, and being an advocate for the arts. There are also opportunities to volunteer with special projects behind-the-scenes throughout the year. Don't worry if you are new to the area or new to the arts - all we ask is that you have an open-mind and a friendly attitude. We provide all the resources you need to feel comfortable in this important role.

The Gallery & Gift Shop is currently open Tuesdays-Sundays, 12-4pm. During Hillsborough Last Fridays Art Walk (the last Friday of each month) we stay open until 9 pm. Volunteers should be available for at least one shift per month (exceptions allowed from time to time). Volunteers have the option of predictable/recurring or flexible shifts. Currently, our top area of need is weekend support. We hope to expand to offering more week-night hours as our team grows.

A hands-on training/orientation and an opportunity to job shadow another volunteer will get you on your way!
