Description

The School Engagement Intern is a community organizer who will help build the power of local child advocates across North Carolina to advance STEM, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship skills for youth in grades 6-12.  The School Engagement Intern will primarily engage and mobilize school superintendents, middle and high-school administrators, and teachers.

The School Engagement Intern works to build and sustain relationships with traditional calendar and year around schools and their leaders. They will emphasize growing network partnerships among organizations led by people of color, with advocates in rural and historically underserved areas, and with business and other community leaders. At the same time, the School Engagement Intern will be an expert listener and networker, helping to develop the advocacy skills of a diverse set of stakeholders.  The School Engagement Intern will embrace several key objectives and deliverables, including the following:

Grow & Strengthen Compass Youth Center’s BasketBotz program

a.) Recruit new partner organizations and individual advocates through community outreach and one-on-one meetings.

b.) Deepen relationships with existing and prospective BasketBotz partner organizations through regular outreach, both one-on-one and through groups, and by collaborating on shared priorities.

c.) Build local and regional teams of collaborators in critical areas across North Carolina where increased engagement will positively impact key decision-makers.
