Women’s Health and Evolutionary Wellness

The W.H.E.W. Project (Women’s Health & Evolutionary Wellness) is the bold evolution of nearly two decades of work led by The Afiya Center, Texas’s only Black woman-led reproductive justice organization (2008–2025). Rooted in Black feminist values, W.H.E.W. centers Black women, girls, gender-expansive people, and men as partners in liberation. Our work spans maternal health, HIV prevention, cultural organizing, leadership development, and civic power.
