We are currently seeking volunteers who are willing to read with a kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade student for 30 up to 40 minutes, during the morning WIN Time (8:05-8:45 a.m.), used for intervention, or during lunch time (between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.). We are seeking volunteers willing to read to a child once or twice per week.
Those interested in volunteering simply need to apply to be a Durham Public Schools Volunteer, and then contact Charryse Fredrick (charryse_fredrick@dpsnc.net) directly to be matched with a child. Volunteers will serve as reading buddies for the remainder of the school year, or for the length of time they can commit to for this school year.
