Who We Are
HOPE NC is a Triangle-based non-profit creating affordable, inclusive housing options for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently integrated into the community with supportive services.
What We Do
HOPE NC was founded by three local families who have adult sons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and are committed to expanding housing options for this population. HOPE NC's mission is to create inclusive communities where people of all ages and abilities experience a sense of belonging. HOPE NC currently has 3 inclusive communities in Durham, Raleigh and our newest community in Chapel Hill. In these communities adults with I/DD live alone or with a roommate and HOPE NC provides an onsite Community Facilitator to encourage social interactions, provide resources and referrals to residents as needed, assist in building relationships, and create a culture of mutual support and caring among all residents of the community. HOPE NC has partnered with local affordable housing developers to set aside units for adults with I/DD that are integrated into the other neighborhood homes with people without I/DD. We also work to advocate locally and with the state to change policies that create barriers for this type of housing and to develop more funding streams that can make affordable housing possible.
