Open volunteer days are on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. during the cooler months and 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. during the high heat of summer.
Assist in spreading mulch, weeding, and other various farm activities (depending on the season) in the Community Garden and inground growing area of Catawba Trail Farm. We do spread lots of mulch! Why? Mulch will reduce the growth of grass in the general areas of the garden as well as reduce standing water, mulch in the beds will add nutrients as the mulch turns to soil and mulch in the traditional growing area will add nutrients to the soil and reduce water erosion. Additionally, keeping areas weed-free helps protect crop growth and reduce disease. Other activities may involve supporting hoop house cultivation, maintaining compost, or transplanting native plants throughout our forest and hiking areas.
